The father of a friend of mine collected matchboxes. Strange hobby, like sugar bags or pins, or cigar wrappers.
Anyway, I very remember he had all the Dutch provinces collected. Here are a few:

There are some villages in Holland where people still wear traditional clothing, but it was on the news last week (little news, I think) that because young people don’t want to anymore, it becomes extinct.
Like match boxes.

  1. I must be old too, Appy. It's just wonderful to remember all the things that are far away in the back of your brain.

    I think.
Thank you for your comment, my friend,

  2. A true collector as well, huh? Collecting matchbooks was quite common when I was young. Of course everybody smoked. My parents, my grandparents, my uncles, my aunts.

    Different times. Back to ours,
Thank you so much for your comment Cat,

  3. Yes, they disappear somehow when you move. I have moved so many times in my life I cannot count them on the fingers of my hands. For small to big, from big to small. And thrown away sooo many things.

But we will always have internet,

  4. I, like Sunny, also collected matchbook covers for years when traveling with my family along with old tins that contained tobacco, flour, sugar, etc. Not sure what happened to all of them. Love these…thanks for sharing.

    Hugs and blessings…Cat
